Description: Offered here is an original still life painting by well known Chinese artist Zizheng Zhang, circa 1995. Painting is oil on wood panel and measures ~15 1/4 x 14 inches. Sight size is 14 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches. Has original frame with overall size of ~23 x 22 inches. Painting is signed upper right in Chinese and appears to be dated 7/95. Painting was acquired in Hong Kong by previous owner. Includes label verso from Galerie Du Monde in Hong Kong. Also included is artist's biographical info (circa early 1990s) in envelope with letterhead of another gallery - Alisan Fine Arts Ltd., Hong Kong. This is a particularly fine example of the artist's masterful brushwork and technique. In the past 10 years, Zhang's still life paintings have sold in excess of $70,000. Condition of painting is excellent. Frame also good with light wear at frame edges. Originally a student of famous Chinese painter Liu Haisu, he then studied western techniques of oil painting under a French professor. He was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution along with his teachers Liu Haisu, Cheng Shifa, and Feng Zikai. His oil paintings remind one of French Impressionist paintings.
