Description: New CD, Polish release “At the beginning of the 90s, we were together with Krzysztof Kieślowski in Jerusalem at the opening of the Jerusalem Film Festival. At that time, I was playing a concert in the beautiful scenery of an open amphitheater located in the valley between old and new Jerusalem. During this visit, we were received by prof. Shevach Weiss, who was then chairman of the Knesset. He also showed us around the Yad Vashem Museum. It was the first time that I saw a children's exhibition dedicated to the murdered children of the Holocaust. Walking through the dark room where thousands of candles flickered from afar, listening to the names of the murdered children and the places of their torment, intertwined with the singing of the cantor from time to time, I was devastated. I felt a strange fear. It was a shocking experience. After leaving the Museum with a beautiful view of the city, Krzysztof said to me: “you have to describe it musically, you have to do it”. But how to write about a tragedy the size of which cannot be grasped by human reason? Years have passed. I started looking for some materials, diaries, poems written by children from Poland. I was looking for the Polish equivalent of the Diaries of Anne Frank. Finally, when I read the diaries of Rutka Laskier, Dawid Rubinowicz and the poems of Abram Koplowicz and Abram Cytryn, I discovered that all these very dramatic notes have one thing in common - they are written with hope. Some irrational force made them believe in salvation. They are dramatic descriptions of everyday life, the fate of entire families and their enormous suffering, but they also often write about every little happy moment with childish joy. And although these diaries suddenly break off, these children did not lose hope until the end. This hope allowed them to live and even smile at times.
