Description: Yiddish Illustrated History of the United States by Abraham Cahan 1910-12 2 Volumes Hardcover, original Assumed 1st editions Judaica History Of The United States In Yiddish, Hebrew font Abraham Cahan 1910 Assumed 1st ed Illustrated with drawings and mapsThe 2 books together weigh 4 lbs 10 ozs!I guessed at some of the info because I don't speak Yiddish. I don't know for sure if the books were published in Israel or printed in the USA. Let me know if know anything please. Thank you. I don't know if the author did the drawings and/or maps. I am sure he had some help since he was a famous dude. I don't know what the publisher's name is, but it is right there in Yiddish on the page. (see photos) Color maps and also Black & White maps, lots of drawings, portraits, illustrations. There are 4 more double pages on each book of the table of contents which I didn't have room for in the photos, but I can send them to you by request. There are several spellings for the author's name i.e. Abraham Kahan, etc. or Avraham. The best thing to do is go to his Wiki page which is in Hebrew and hit translate to English for all the information about this amazing guy. That is what I did. The web search was a bit difficult but I kept at it and got some info. I spent a many hours fixing the books. When I saw those maps I knew that I had a valuable set of volumes on my hands so I went for it! On Volume One I re-glued the spine, and as you can see the seam is shored up solid with hinge tape and doc repair tape. I use all Lineco products. The title page and the next page have minor repairs. All the pages are intact. There are some smudges here and there, especially on the title page. The table of contents looks great, and as I mentioned I have photos of it available. I included a few here. Towards the end there are some small spots. When you get to p. 688, the last written page, the seam is once again shored up. The last page is blank and slightly soiled, and is shored up at the inside cover seam. The corners of the cover were bumped so I glued them. The second volume is Very Good or Very Good Minus. It is exponentially better then the first. The spine, cover and corners are great, as shown. The IFC area is shored up at the seam as shown. There are no problems with the pages...except for the fold-out map. I put a Lineco strip along the outer edge to protect it from chipping. The map itself is VG Minus for a 114 year old book. I stand by the map quality, because the fold-out map is the main feature of this volume, ..the special feature you might say. I didn't want to break up the set so I am offering the set as : Vol 1 Good/repaired/no writing and Vol 2 VG Minus to VG because of the seam repair. I hope I didn't put you to sleep. Packed very nicely for you like always. Please check my alternate shipping method(s) to see if one of them is cheaper / preferable for you.
