Yamin Young (1959) was born in Shanghai, China and won an international award when he was only 7 years old Yamin's mother was a professor at the Suzhou Art Institute, the Venice of the East, while his father was a captain of a boat. He was equally inspired by both parents and they nurtured his love for art regardless of the Cultural Revolution that occurred when he was only 8 years old. He was inspired by artists of the Tang Dynasty, and western artists Gaugin, Monet and Picasso and Van Gogh. He was also influenced by the art found along the famous Silk Road located on the cave walls of Dunhuang. He attended the Shanghai youth art exhibition at 13 years old. He also studied at the prestigious Shanghai Art Institute and uses oils, water colors, etchings and sculpture that combine both the East with the West, and the new Yunnan school. He lives today in California and his work is being sought by collectors in the public and private sectors. His Originals are hard to find and his serigraphs continue to sell out as soon as they are introduced.
