Description: Yamaha No. 60 Classical Guitar. From information I’ve been able to find, dating this guitar to the early to mid 60’s, not much detail found based on neck block serial number and other features of the guitar. This guitar has the Yamaha Script Logo on headstock as well as the JIS 9202 logo on the lower headstock. From others it’s stated the JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) mark began showing up on Yamaha guitars around 1963 but usually found on the interior label, not the headstock. This guitar appears to have a solid spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, remaining materials appear to be mahogany. Ask me regarding identification of materials if this is a main consideration.I purchased this Yamaha No. 60 at auction from the estate of a professional luthier, this guitar was modified with a piezoelectric pickup under bridge, and is very well done. I’ll assume this was the luthier’s personal instrument that was played a lot, as it shows wear with nicks, dings, sweep strum markings on top plus numerous scratches. There is a line seam visible on neck heel, please review image, as well numerous other images for evaluation. I linked a video of me playing to hear tone both amplified and un-amplified. This guitar has a rich mellow tone, which one should expect from a guitar of this vintage, plays cleanly, added new strings, and is enjoyable to play. I’ve listed in fair condition, but in my overall estimation a guitar in good playable condition, with listed issues that are to be expected with a vintage instrument of this age and use. This guitar will be listed as sold as is, so please review carefully and as always let me know if you have any questions about this guitar. Thanks for looking.
