WWII P-47 Thunderbolt GE RARE “TURTLEBACK” Magneto Pratt Whitney Aircraft R-2800

Description: This is a RARE General Electric “TURTLEBACK” Magneto G.E. Type S18LG-P1B, Pratt & Whitney part number 90100, Cat. No 8258925G2, serial number 171216. This type of magneto was used with Pratt & Whitney R-2800-21, -59, -65 and -71 Radial Aircraft Engines (also considered as “R-2800-B” Series). These engines were, and still are being used on some Republic P-47 Thunderbolt aircraft, some B-26 Marauders and perhaps some other WWII era aircraft as well. After doing some research on the internet, they may also fit some R-2800-C engines like R-2800-57. -73 and -77. It turns freely and looks to be in new surplus condition. It has a yellow serviceable tag stating “Checked OK” from Central Aviation & Marine Co dated 10/15/74. Even though it looks to be in new surplus condition, I am selling it as an old surplus overhauled unit as there is no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied. The paint is a little scuffed from being on the shelf for some 45 years. After all those years it would need to be sent to an authorized shop for inspection before use.
