These were made and primarily used on the M1944 rifle but could also be used on the M1943 rifle too. Spain received these in the 1930's. Bayonets are found either with or without a flashguard. Some can be found with a muzzle ring too. Overall, this bayonet is in Fair - Good condition, considering its age and history. The press catch is functional with stiff spring tension. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They have scattered oxidation and scrapes. The remaining finish has started to turn a gray patina color. There is NO flashguard. The screw escutcheons securely fasten the panels. They have tool marks with mostly strong slots, plus grit inside the slot. The wood grip panels have chips, compressions and draglines. The wood at the top of the grip has worn down. The wood has darkened with time. The blade's spine, fuller and sides have light scrapes. The blade edge has no nicks or dings and appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a dull straight point. The finish is in the white with a couple spots of discoloration. The right side ricasso is marked with the serial number "555". The scabbard is in Fair - Good condition, considering its age and history. It has been painted black at some point and most of the paint finish has worn off. The frog stud is securely fastened to the body. There are impact marks, oxidation and scrapes throughout. The metal areas where the paint has worn off has turned a darker gray patina color. There is scattered areas of dried cosmoline. There are no visible markings on the scabbard. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your Spanish M1943 / M1944 rifle, or a bayonet collection in general.
