Description: WWII German Helmet Carry Strap, fits M35/M40/M42 helmets. This is an accurate reproduction of a carry strap that was on an original M35 helmet that I acquired in 1965. The helmet IS NOT INCLUDED. The straps are made to order for the helmet shell size, so please send your size requirements. If you are unsure I will let you know what to measure. The first six photos are of the reproduction strap and the last six photos are of the original helmet which was named to an Oberleutnant. The final photo is from WWII and illustrates an observer or spotter a similar carry strap on his helmet. I had always assumed that it was intended to be snapped onto a fixed loop in an armored vehicle, but could just as easily be clipped to field gear belt. Hand made in the USA! All hardware is as accurate to WWII pattern as possible. High quality construction is vegetable tanned leather belting with aged brass rivets, steel hooks, roller buckle, keeper, and fixed loop snap hook as on the original. Leather finish is slightly aged but will improve with use. When ordering please let me know what size shell you have so I can make the strap in the correct size and mount the hanger strap so it will center properly. I can make these for size 62, 64, 66, 68, and 70 shells. The strap may be worn with the snap hook in front or at the rear, is easy to rotate, and is flexible enough to be quickly removed without unbuckling.
