This hat has a wool exterior covering with a leather brim and chin strap. No mothing on the wool covering. The brim is intact, no breaks or warping. The chin strap is also intact, no breaks or cracking. It has the early US Merchant Marine Cap Badge and the correct US Mechant Marine side buttons on the chin strap. The interior has a fabric lining and leather sweat band. Both the lining and sweat band are intact. The leather is soft and supple, no cracking or breaks. The lining still has the manufacturer markings: Princeform of N.Y.C. This is a very nice cap. Very RARE to find a Merchant Marine Cap from this period, in this condition.
