The largest roster in series history includes more than 30 female competitors and over 200 playable characters, when factoring in alternate versions of superstars, and as many as eight wrestlers can hit the ring at once. The Creation Suite has been improved to offer more options when designing custom wrestlers, arenas, and highlight packages, while the Create-A-Match feature returns to let players set rules for a match and then export them to the Play Now or Universe modes. The MyPlayer mode introduces eight fighting styles and a system of character progression and upgrades, and the MyCareer mode offers a story that lets gamers roam the backstage area freely, interact with other wrestlers and general managers, and develop their own stories. The Road to Glory mode lets MyPlayer characters compete against one another with the goal of qualifying for pay-per-view events, and all the wrestling action is narrated by the broadcast team of Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton.
