WW2 U.S. Brass Artillery Shell Trench Art Vase & Ashtray 1944 Francis Stevens

Description: Item up for sale is an amazing lot of two vintage brass artillery shells made from 1944 marked shells that were found together during a recent estate buyout. The vase has a three insignia running vertically. The ashtray 6 unit insignia pieces running horizontally around 3/4ths of the shell. The ashtray is engraved with the name Francis R. Stevens Jr. followed by a serial number and identifying the soldier as being a part of the U.S. Army. Insignia on the pieces would indicate these pieces were made around the Vietnam era from WW2 surplus shells. Brass both both shows patina consistent with age with no cracks or breaks in the metal. Vase measures 5-3/8" top to bottom by 2-3/8" wide across the base. The ashtray measures 1-3/4" top to bottom by 4-5/8" wide across the base. Fantastic lot that comes fresh to the market.
