Description: A Navigational Computer Mark III D*, marked AM (Air Ministry) with its original leg straps, as used by RAF onboard of British war planes during WW2. These computers provided a rapid means of solving problems involving the effect of wind on the track and ground speed of an aeroplane. Incorporates a height and airspeed computer, calibrated for either isothermal of I.C.A.N. readings. The computer was worn on the knee of the user and attached by the two straps. In used condition with signs of wear commensurate with age and nature of item, mechanism operates well, surface scratches and marks, straps are in present but in poor condition and quite fragile, plastic pen holder to side of case broken at both ends, pencil scribbling inside case lid, please refer to detailed photos provided as they form part of item's description.
