WW2 German Wehrmacht Kw.E.a Kurzwellen Empfänger a - RADIO RECEIVER - RARE!

Description: You are bidding on a VERY RARE used example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht Kurzwellen-Empfänger a "Anton" (Kw.E.a) Radio Receiver! This was used in various Heer, Luftwaffe, and Kriegsmarine Stationary and Mobile Stations! Initially (1936-1941), the 100W.S. was used in combination with the Kurzwellen-Empfänger a (Kw.E.a "Anton") instead of the Torn.E.b. The Kw.E.a is beautiful super-heterodyne receiver that covers 980 kHz up to 10200 kHz with five bands. It is EASILY the best functioning of all the German communication receivers. Comparable to the Drake 2-B and Collins 51-S, it was built to a SUPERB technological standard. It has a single IF of 250.9 KHz. There is an RV 2 P 800 pentode vacuum tube (also used in the Torn.E.b) in each of the 11 stages of the circuitry. The radio consumes about 2.2 A at 2 volt for the tube filaments, and 20-25 mA anode current at 90 volt DC. The unit is battery powered, though a power supply model NA 6 can be used for the anode voltage. The unit is big: about 69 x 27 x 35 cm (27" x 11" x 14"). It is also rather heavy: 42 kg (˜93 lbs), despite the die-cast chassis and front panel being made of lightweight "Silumin" aluminum-silicon alloy. Ref. 8A, 30E. Made of aluminum, bakelite and steel, and weighing in at approx. 80 lbs., this Kw.E.a Radio Receiver is in AMAZING used condition! Though there are some marks, scratches and wear, it still retains much of it's original paint! All switches and knobs are 100% functional, however the "Ein / Aus" switch is a bit sticky. A couple of tiny screws missing, but otherwise, 100% COMPLETE internally! I have not tested it for electrical functionality, so I will leave that to the winning bidder. Date plate is still intact, and numbers are matching. Appears to have been original painted the early green color, and was over-painted in grey later in the war. Dated 1940, I have indicated this type of radio in use in the last photo. ASUPERB radio, it would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection or display!
