Description: For sale is a set of medals comprising British War and Victory Medals named 908105 L CPL B.W. COWAN. 102-CAN INF. They come with copies of service record extracts.Lance Corporal Bruce William Cowan was born in Newcastle, Ontario, Canada in 1894. A farmer by trade he enlisted on the 15/5/1916 in Regina into the 195th Battalion. After initial training in Canada, he was sent to England, landing on 11/11/1916 was transferred to the 32nd Battalion three days later. He landed in France on 30/11/1916 and was promptly transferred to the 102nd Battalion the next day. He was serving with the 102nd at Vimy Ridge when he received a gunshot wound to his chest on 9/4/1917during the successful attack. He was evacuated to England and after spending some 52 days in hospital was returned to France rejoining his unit in August 1917. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in September 1918 and survived the war to return to Canada for discharge on 14/3/1919. Please view my other collector's items for sale.
