These are the most common type of sling seen in combat units, and one of the most common markings. This is the ubiquitous leather Model of 1907, in 3 variations: 1. black hooked beige/brownish MILSCO 1942 (That's what's for sale HERE...the others are in different auctions) 2. black hooked DYED darker brown MILSCO 1942 Brass hooked MILSCO 1942 is available, but in ANOTHER AUCTION. THE MILSCO 1944 IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. The lighter color, blackened steel fittings, will be the default if no other is specified. LOOK AT THE PHOTOS. The lighter colored is the normal default. Slings were most often OLDER than the rifles to which they were fitted. They were issued at the unit level, not shipped from the manufacturers.
