Description: Nice looking World War II Officers Winter Service Coat that belonged to a 2nd Lieutenant in the 11th Airborne Division. The coat itself was manufactured by Hart, Schaffner, & Marx on May 7, 1942 for the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot. There is a size label indicating that this is a size 37 L. The collars are adorned with World War II period "U.S." and Infantry officer Branch of Service insignia, although there are a couple clutches missing. The left breast features a nice set of late World War II to immediate postwar RobbinsJump Wings. These Robbins wings are typically associated with those soldiers who arrived in theater late in the war, many of whom served with the occupation forces after the fighting ended. The shoulders are adorned with World War II period pin-back 2nd Lieutenant rank insignia. The left sleeve features a WWII period one-piece construction 11th Airborne shoulder sleeve insignia, which is hand sewn to the uniform. The left sleeve features a WWII US 6th Army Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, which is also hand-sewn to the uniform. Both patches have a few broken threads - nothing extensive. No name associated with this piece. The uniform remains in good condition, showing signs of age, use, and wear. We were able to find a couple moth holes, or areas of tracking, but this is minimal. The uniform displays very well. Please see pictures for more detail. Guaranteed 100% authentic in every respect for life. Be sure to see our other listings for more historical antiques and militaria.
