Description: This World War 1 US Military Mess Kit is stamp with the date of 1918. Large Spoon also has stamping that indicates it is original to the kit (see photos). The smaller spoon and fork are NOT stamped with any military markings, and while appearing to be from the time period, we're likely added to the kit after assignment. The fork handle is bent over so that it would fit inside the kit. The outer top of the kit has a "W" etched on it and the inside of the mess kit has a "WO" etched into the surface. These etchings are likely ownership marks added by the soldier. The item is in used condition with scratches, marks, pitting, etc. Good condition for time period. See photos for condition. This original period item is a piece of militaria collectible history from the United States during the WW I era. The mess kit would have been utilized by soldiers during their time of service, highlighting a significant historical aspect of conflict and military life during that period.
