Description: GOOD to FAIR CONDITION This sale is for a vintage hardback COMPLETE TWO VOLUME SET entitled “The Works in Prose and Verse of Charles and Mary Lamb,” edited by Thomas Hutchinson, M.A., with a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of Charles Lamb, at the age of 30 (Volume I); and Charles Lamb, at the age of 51 (Volume II). The set was published by Henry Frowde, of the Oxford University Press, London, in 1908 (date of Preface) and is the Oxford Edition, complete in two volumes. Volume I comprises of Miscellaneous Prose, Elia and the Last Essays of Elia. Volume II comprises of their tales for children, including Tales from Shakespeare and the Adventures of Ulysses, poetry for children, poems and dramatic works. The books measure 7.5 inches x 5.25 inches, will require 3.5 inches along your bookshelf and have 863 + 857 pages. The books are in internally good condition for their age, internally neat, with wear/bumps and are a little grubby/faded to the original cloth hardback covers (frayed/splits to the side of the spine of Volume II), with a tiny vintage bookshop sticker at the front and no other ink or pencil writings/markings in either of the books. The bindings are good, save the front endpapers are removed/missing in both volumes with no other loose or missing pages. There are no dust-jackets. A good reading complete vintage TWO VOLUME SET.
