Description: This Woodburytype portrait of the Royal Astronomer Sir George Airy and the accompanying biographical notice appeared originally in the volume Men of Mark, second series, 1877, published in London by Sampson, Low, Marston et al. The two pages are stiff with age, but they are otherwise in very good shape. The image of Airy is in excellent condition, with only some minor touches of foxing in the lower third of the mount. The separate biographical page is in excellent conditions. Please carefully examine the images listed. This and the other individual Woodburytype portraits that I am selling came to me disassembled from their original volumes. I do not disassemble volumes, which is why I have recently sold a few complete volumes of Men of Mark.
