Very good book in original boards. Plain brown paper covered boards. Paper label on spine is almost completely missing. All board and spine edges are scuffed and with a number of rub-throughs, especially at fore-edge corners and adjacent edges. Board panels are soiled and scuffed. External page edges are age- and soil-darkened and with some foxing. Side and lower edges are untrimmed. Previous owner's bookplate on front paste-down. Damp stains around upper and side edges from the front paste down to page viii of the Preface. Pages 186-197 have damp stains at the lower edges near the margins. Damp stains also at the back of the book on back paste-down, back free end-paper and (lightly) on the back fold (which is blank) of the "Sketch of the Military and Political Power of Russia, in the Year 1817", a 4-part fold out with pink and green tinting. Very minimal internal foxing. Text block is clean and sound. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition descriptions. Additional photos available at your request.
