Description: The Dramatic Works of William Shakespeare. New York & Boston: E. B. Hall, 1894. Complete sixteen volume set of the Buckner Library Edition, edited by Clark & Wright. Octavo, bound in green cloth covered boards with applied paper labels on spine. Gilt tops, fore and bottom edges untrimmed. Includes all of the dramatic work, a collection of poetry, a biography, famous quotations and an index. Illustrated frontispieces with photogravures of Victorian era stage actors. Very Good Condition: spine ends and corners worn, paper labels on spines are sunned, scratched and chipped, common for publishers bindings of this era. Text margins indicate this set was intended to be rebound in a fine binding if the owner wished. Hand laid paper is of the highest quality rag, which has remained bright and white, with no foxing and no markings inside. Deckled edges are sunned where exposed, otherwise a very clean set. Bindings are strong. Only flaws are a small quarter-inch burn, presumably from a fireplace ember to a handful of leaves on the bottom edge of the first volume, coming nowhere near the text. Also the preliminary leaves of volume three have come loose, but all collated perfect. Nice set. Please refer to photographs of actual books. We pack carefully. Ships USPS Media Mail. Enjoy!
