We are not sure of the spelling of William's last name, whether it is "Kemleg" or "Kemlen". The document reads: William Kemlin, aged 73 years, occupation Laborer; do declare on oath that my personal description is: color- white, complexion-fair, height-5 feet 5 inches, weight 120 pounds, color of hair, gray, color of eyes, blue, other visible distinctive marks, mustache & beard. I was born in East ---- England, on the 28 day of June, anno Domini 1844, I now reside at Sylvania, O (Ohio). I emigrated to the United States of America from Liverpool on the vessel St. Patrick (we are including a picture of that vessel); my last foreign residence was England; I am married; the name of my wife is Helen; she was born at New York, USA and now resides at Sylvania, O. It is my bona fide intention to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, and particlarly to.........., I arrived at the port of Boston, in the state of Massachusetts, on or about the 27 day of February, anno Domini 1869 (age 25), I am not an anarchist; I am not a polygamist nor a believer in the practice of polygamy; and it is my intention in good faith to become a citizen of the United States of America and to permanently reside therein: SO HELP ME GOD. signed and dated Dec. 31st (New Years Eve)1917.
