This book is about the Republic of the Seven United Provinces, which is now called the Netherlands. This book discusses the revolutions in the Netherlands between pro-British and pro-French in their country between 1780 and 1787. The book was published in late 1787. Although no author is named on the book itself, the well-known English author, William Godwin (1756 - 1836), is stated on many internet pages as the author of this book. This would have been a very early publication for him, and he may have been protecting himself by issuing it anonymously. See actual book and contents in ebay pics above. The top edge is gilded, the text appears to be made of handmade paper, and the Half-Title Page states "History of the United Provinces....Price Five Shillings." This is a nice, tight, antique, leather book. Very Good Condition [ Cover-edges and cover-corners lightly worn, Spine-ends somewhat chipped, first-few and last-few pages have bent bottom-page-corners; otherwise, book is extremely clean, unmarked, square, tight, well-bound, solid, and easily readable with sharp print ] 354 pages; approx. 8.5" x 5.5" x 1", full leather covers, gilded embossed titles, top edge gilded, text appears to be made of handmade paper, Half-title Page states "History of the United Provinces....Price Five Shillings."
