The boards remain mostly straight, the binding is still square, the top stain is dark, and internally there is a small abrasion on the front fly and some tanning to the end pages but no writing or other markings of any kind. The dust jacket is tanned, soiled, and edge worn with areas of rubbing and shallow chips. There are also some short splits starting but the jacket remains mostly complete and is still presentable. A slightly flawed example but it does retain the original first state dust jacket which is increasingly uncommon. A novel about the golden age of aviation, and, more specifically, barnstorming— a pursuit which killed Faulkner’s own brother.
