Description: WILLET by Sallie Ellington Middleton - Print Framed 1976 Reproduced from Orig. At a recent estate sale I was able to purchase a collection of artwork all from the Chrishawn Gallery owned by artist George Caso (1942 - 2016). All the pieces have matching frames & mattes and are nautical, beach, sea shell, sea bird themed. This is the only piece from the lot by a different artist, namely Sallie Ellington Middleton (1926 - 2009). According to the COA she was one of the other artists whose work was exhibited and sold through his gallery. While this artist needs no introduction I thought it important to note that she was one of the first female botanical watercolor artists to achieve professional status. It is certainly not hard to see why. This particular piece is relatively large and is beyond expertly framed. There are something like 5 mattes done on this piece. The print itself includes the “signature” of the artist but is not a hand done signature it was printed on with the rest of the image. While it does not say it on the print itself, only on the COA it is a limited edition print, done in 1976 from the original watercolor painting by Foxfire Fine Arts Elite Series. It does note that it is Plate 20 for Willet. According to my research the plates for these were destroyed many years ago, while I don’t know the number created of these “Second Market Prints” they are considered rare and have a relatively noted value. This piece features a COA from the gallery, Chrishawn Galleries. Print is a watercolor lithograph. IMPORTANT: A lot of the information here cannot be seen without taking the art out of the frame, see pictures, as I’ve included pictures of the info I could see along with a picture of the whole thing from the back. The last picture is value guide from a website. Also if you want this print without the frame it can be arranged, simply message me. Frame does have tiny crack in bottom right corner of the glass. In those situations there is nothing I can do. So... as long as you speak to me how you would like to be spoken to, and actually answer the questions I ask you, you won’t leave dissatisfied.
