Westmoreland Glass Argonaut Shell Footed Candy Dish Golden Sunset Orange Amber

Description: This candy dish from the Westmoreland Argonaut line measures approximately 6 inches in diameter and 6 3/4 inches tall. It comes in the Golden Sunset color which is a transparent orange/amber color of pressed glass. In bright lighting the orange tones of the glass are very apparent. In lower lighting conditions, it reads more amber. This color is distinctly different from other amber colors. I have found very few references to the color in pattern 1048 but I have found a catalogue page featuring this exact pattern and color in Westmoreland's Glass Catalogue #75 published in 1964. My best guess is that this candy dish was manufactured sometime in the 1960s. The pattern features seashells on the lid and dolphins on the footed bottom. This particular candy dish was collected by my mom and my grandma on one of their many antiquing trips thru the Midwest and has sat in a non-smoking home in a glass display case for many years. There are a couple of small bubbles in the glass but this is typical for pressed glass made during this time period. There are a few small chips/flea bites on the base and the lid where the two meet. This is very common in these candy dishes due to use over the years. Please check photos 4 and 7 for condition. This beautiful piece of vintage decor has been well-loved and treasured and will make a lovely addition to any vintage or maximalist decor.
