As he neared retirement from the U.S. Army, Brigadier General Farley reminisced about his day as a Cadet at West Point (Class of 1861) and includes many contemporary (circa 1900) photographs of Cadets, West Point buildings and monuments. A significant account of West Point life in the early 1860s. He concludes with a few chapters of his experiences in the Civil War, and with a 12-page long poem presented to the Dialectic Society in 1859 titled “West Point Life.” Finally he concludes with 37 verses of the traditional West Point song “Benny Havens, Oh!” Enhanced with 30 illustrations (1 is missing), mostly photographs of West Point circa 1900, on glossy paper. Hardcover book in Good condition, tight and clean with no marks except a newspaper obituary of General Farley pasted inside rear cover. Pages are clean and white with slight shading near edges; a few pages darkened by newspaper clippings; page tops are gilded. Dark Blue covers with gilt titles on the spine are bright and clean with slight wear at spine ends and corners. No dust jacket.
