It sort of reminds me of how stone-washed denim looks. The close-up photo provided was taken next to a window with a lot of natural light coming in so that may be why the ground color appears less black. Note- this material is a light weight and has a slight jacquard-like texture. Color description- Onyx Listing is for ONE valance Condition notes- Most of my home linens were purchased from an overstock liquidation company. They are what is considered "new old stock". Out of all of the Imperial Dress in "Onyx" valances that I have available- both are new & unused in their original zippered bags. One zippered bag is nearly pristine; the other has a black marker-ed area on the front- which looks like it's covering up a lighter color writing (possibly an old price as I have other window treatments with prices written in blue marker in the same general area). The first persons who purchase will receive them with the bag/s in the best condition. Also note- Waverly home linens are considered good quality. They do however seem to (most times) have excess threads hanging from some of their sewn areas. If you are like me and picky about this kind of thing, These threads can be easily snipped, with care taken for the surrounding fabric, using a small pair of scissors or nail clippers.
