Description: Available with this listing is the 1988 BMG Direct MarketingCD release of the Geffen/WEA Records album “Watermark” by Enya. The disc, inlay, and insert are all in near-mint to mintcondition. The case shows only very slight blemishes and shelf-wear. PLEASENOTE: The slight speckling on the photos of the disc are from my scannerbed. They are NOT on the disc itself. “Watermark” is the second studio album by Irish singer,songwriter and musician Enya, released on 19 September 1988 by WEA. After therelease of her previous album “Enya”, she secured a recording contract withWarner after a chance meeting with chairman Rob Dickins, who had become a fanof her music. Her contract allowed her considerable artistic and creativefreedom, with minimal interference from the label and no deadlines to havealbums finished. Enya recorded “Watermark” in ten months with her longtimecollaborators, manager, producer and arranger Nicky Ryan and his wife, lyricistRoma Ryan. It was initially recorded in Ireland in demo form before productionrelocated to London to re-record, mix, and master it digitally. “Watermark”features music in different styles, displaying Enya’s sound of multi-trackedvocals with keyboards, percussion instruments, and elements of Celtic, ambient,and New-age music, though Enya believes her music does not belong in the lattergenre. “Watermark” received many positive reviews from critics andit became an unexpected commercial success, which propelled Enya to worldwidefame. It peaked at number five on the UK Albums Chart, number twenty-five onthe Billboard 200 in the United States, and reached number one in NewZealand and Switzerland. It was certified quadruple platinum by the BritishPhonographic Industry (BPI) and the Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA) for shipments of 1.2 million and four million copies across the UnitedKingdom and the United States, respectively.
