Description: Antique brown transferware Vegetable Tureen from the Aesthetic Movement in the late 1800's. Manufactured by Wallis Gimson & Co. for the Lewis Straus & Sons (LS&S) retailer in approx 1885 based on the impressed date stamp. Measures approx 11" long, including the handles, 6 1/2" wide and 4 1/2" tall including lid & handle. Very good antique condition: no chips, cracks or repairs; there is crazing and discoloration as would be expected for a piece 135+ years old. If pristine it would be a reproduction! The only flaw of note is that one foot must be shorter than the other three causing it to wobble - that problem has been solved by a piece of felt (not pictured). Feel free to ask questions.
