Book Introduction: After walking the faith walk for years and sharing with others some of the journeys the wife and I have traveled, it has been impressed upon me, and encouraged by others to write them down and share them. My wife Belinda, being an equal part of all of this, and my rock I would rely on to keep me focused, kept us grounded in Him, and would not let the world distract us from fulfilling His purpose for our lives. Now, we were probably the least likely in our families to have such a transformation in God. To abandon all and set out on a series of walks that has spread out to almost a quarter of a century is even more of a testimony. But here we are. God put us together and we have drawn strength from each other, and mostly from Him. The thing about it is we are in no way exceptional people, just your average everyday Christians that God has used in Kingdom work. But God very rarely uses the extraordinary. He gets more praise and credit for using the ordinary. We are living proof that, “not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.” 1Cor. 1:26. My prayer is that as you journey through this book with us you'll see God in a new way, and not just see Him in some things, but in ALL things. Book Preface: There are many people I know that have worked at the same place all their lives - lived in the same city all their lives - lived in the same house most of their lives... and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Actually, I get a little jealous of them sometimes because moving & starting over is not something I would choose to do or get excited about very easily at all. I would be very content living life like what I just talked about. So, to be upfront, I am not saying in any way to do anything drastic in your life. But there may be some that have felt an urging to move into another chapter of this thing called life by God's leading. God has been knocking at their spiritual door. This is for them especially, but I also believe everyone can be blessed to learn of the ways He moves so miraculously in the lives of His people. The Apostle Paul wrote in 2Cor. 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight”. That is a very difficult thing to do when walking by sight is all we’ve been used to - when it has been habitual for most of our lives - when the pressures of others tell us to be one way, and the world strongly impresses upon us to be self-sustaining. For me, it wasn’t an overnight transition to stop walking by sight. It came in stages, taught and carefully placed by the Master Himself. Now, it is very hard to describe what it’s like to walk by faith. Some will look on you with disbelief or question your rationality. But I have learned to follow my own convictions, and especially the leading of the Spirit of God. Yes, there have been times I’ve second guessed things, but it’s hard to ignore the promptings of the Holy Spirit. It’s hard to sit back and act like you went deaf and didn’t hear Him speak to you. It’s hard to walk out on what looks like sandy ground, wondering if you’re going to be swallowed up or stay on top. I have found that there is no magic formula, or a set of instructions for walking in faith. There is no book titled, “Walking in Faith for Dummies”. At least, not that I am aware of. You see, every journey is different, unique, and goes at the pace designed for it. Even if there were a book, it could not cover all the possible scenarios, and fully prepare you for what God has planned for you. The Bible tells about many that walked in faith but doesn’t really go into detail about what they were fully experiencing or thinking. As I have shared lots of these stories with others, some people have almost sneered like I was over exaggerating or making these up. Even some of them almost seem surreal to me too as I oftentimes look back on them. But I lived them, and I am still amazed at God’s handiwork over it, and the way He skillfully orchestrated it all to synchronize together. God’s timing is perfect, and I am almost overwhelmed trying to take all this in as I reflect, and as I try to plan things out to write. Even tonight before I started editing this, I wept because of the Lord’s powerful moving in my life. These chapters are sectioned in times, or seasons of my life. While yes, there are some overlapping and non-mentioned events, if I had to write it all it would take too much of our time. So, I have selected and prayed for God’s leading on what to write, and what not to write. I hope you are blessed, encouraged, and get better reception to the Holy Spirit’s promptings. Because being in tune to Him is paramount to walking in faith, and then, listening and acting upon His leads takes determined faith. Faith that we don’t inherently have right at the start, but faith that is strengthened by exercising it. It’s a process. A process we don't take on by our own plans, but by Him directing us every step of the way.
