Description: Wales, UNITED KINGDOM - Llandudno & Isle of Anglesey - GUIDE POSTCARD SERIES: This Guide Postcard Series provides a description of notable sights featured in the card's image. This Divided Back Era (1907-15) postcard features Llandudno & Isle of Anglesey - Wales. Llandudno is a seaside resort, town and community in Conwy County Borough, Wales, located on the Creuddyn peninsula, which protrudes into the Irish Sea. In the 2011 UK census, the community, which includes Penrhyn Bay and Penrhynside, had a population of 20,710. The town's name is derived from its patron saint, Saint Tudno. Llandudno, "Queen of the Welsh Resorts", a title first applied as early as 1864, is now the largest seaside resort in Wales, and lies on a flat isthmus of sand between the Welsh mainland and the Great Orme. Historically a part of Caernarfonshire, Llandudno was formerly in the district of Aberconwy within Gwynedd. Anglesey is an island off the north-west coast of Wales. With an area of 276 square miles (715 km2), Anglesey is the largest island of Wales and the fifth-largest island surrounding Great Britain (and the largest outside of Scotland). Anglesey is also the largest island in the Irish Sea by area, and the second most populous island in the Irish Sea (after the Isle of Man). The actual population taken at the 2011 census was 69,751. Two bridges span the Menai Strait, connecting the island to the mainland: the Menai Suspension Bridge, designed by Thomas Telford in 1826, and the Britannia Bridge. The card is in good condition, but shows some edge wear. No. 9.
