Description: Vintage Empty Wakmann Watch Box or Case. No watch included in this sale. High top model. I have been a watch collector and restorer for nearly 40 years. Not exactly sure what year or years this was produced. I would say however that it is pre 1970's at least. The material on the outside is black over metal of some kind probably steel because its very strong. Also you can see the small bits of rust that have formed under the material covering. The outside trim ring is gold plated and also metal. The inside has the name and logo of Wakmann and is in pretty nice condition. They are printed on a satin or silk material of some sort. The red velvet area where the watch would sit is in nice shape. I took one pic of a notch in the front where the little price sign once was but is no longer there. Overall this is in nice shape as you can see. I thought of purchasing a vintage Wakmann to put in it but my collecting direction is currently going in another direction. I have tried to figure out what size watch would fit in this case. After trying several watches I could not find one to tell the absolute maximum size that would fit. I can say that a watch that is 42mm including crown will not let the top close totally. A watch that is 39.5mm including crown will fit and let the top close completely. The 42mm including crown was up only a bit though so I am going to guess that the largest width watch including crown that would fit in here and let the top close totally would be 40mm.
