Description: The Etruria Works was a ceramics factory opened by Josiah Wedgwood in 1769 in a district of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, which he named Etruria. The factory ran for 180 years, as part of the wider Wedgwood business. This 12” platter has inner rim of 5.5 inches where a secondary bowl may have sat on it The platter and a utensil mark on an edge as shown in photos. The reverse side shows the kiln marks on the outer edges in three areas. The impressed mark may indicate the year of manufacturing. I research the mark on reverse was used in 1840 for a brief amount of time.
