Description: Buy now! I’ll make no claims on this item to exactly what it is or when made except that the man who had it said it was his grandmothers and he was in his 50s at least. I suspect it is early 1900s and that the lace at the bottom is possibly a later addition as it is decidedly, not handmade. The lace at the bottom also seems to be stitched on with a more modern thread. My guess is 1930 or prior except bottom lace unless it’s Amish or something but I think weave of cotton is not even modern except for the lace. Parts of this are machine stitched, but much of the finish work is hand done. It was meant to be closed with a safety pin, most likely, as I see no evidence of a button or a string being a part of the waist construction. It is ecru in color, almost white. There are a myriad of holes and stains, and it was found hidden amongst a bunch of very vintage sheets. It is a very plain flat, tight weave cotton, not linen. Because of its condition, I am selling it as is. It is not totally fragile and falling apart in your hands, but it is old.
