Description: ***************************Location G/S************* Listing is for a vintage garden trench/shovel spade, with a good amount of the original green paint (as shown in the photos), and retains most of the original R. Herschel (Founded 1887, Peoria, Ill.) foil sticker, somewhat/fairly illegible, had to use a magnifier to make out the lettering. Likely 1930's or 40's. I see reference to this type being called a trench, planter, garden, and gutter shovel. It was obtained with other farm/garden tools. Steel/Metal spade's socket is marked "Heat Treated / A / 16". Blade's cutting edge measures 6 1/4" straight across (blade is curved), is nearly perfect, has a few tiny indentions. Blade measures over 15 1/2" long, with the shaft and handle, the shovel measures 41 3/4" total, end to end. Beautiful patina all over. In excellent condition, I see no cracks, rust, repairs, or other issues to report. See photos for more details. Thank you for viewing. Will combine shipping for items when feasible. All items usually ship from 24 to within 72 hours of payment. Occasionally on the same day.
