Description: TThis poster for a Jefferson Airplane show with the Paupers is black and brown on a red background. Bonnie MacLean, who happened to be married to Bill Graham at the time, had both an interesting vision of design and the considerable graphic ability necessary to render this vision on paper. While MacLean had created one earlier numbered image, the BG-0, this is the first of the sequence for which she is famous. It is based on an aesthetic that she introduced to psychedelic posters—the use of Gothic imagery. Many of her designs appear to be part of the walls of gothic cathedrals. The original poster was printed on white index stock and measures approximately 13⅞″ x 23″. There is significant color variation on this poster, especially in the tan-brown colors. The postcard comes in three varieties, all of which measure approximately 4⅞″ x 8″:The Type A card has a “place stamp here” reverse. The Type B card has a bulk rate permit on the back. The Type C card has a bulk rate permit on the back, and was addressed and sent to people on the mailing list.
