Description: Vintage Dragon Ware blue Moriage 2 demitasse / Tea Cup and Saucer. 1 cup without saucer Occupied Japan 1945-1951 Beautiful pieces featuring blue eyed dragon. Beautiful blue color with gold trim and gold handle Moriage itself evolved from Satsuma ware—developed in the 1500s by Korean potters in southern Japan—in which pieces were sometimes decorated with raised designs made of polychrome enamel or even gilt. The moriage of the twentieth century was also intended for the export market as part of “fancy” ware destined for the United States. Set includes 3 demitasse cups - 2 inches tall by 2 inches 2 saucers - 3 1/2 inches in diameter These are preowned pieces in very good condition. Pieces are hand painted so any imperfections are part of the beauty and design of pieces. There may be unevenness in color in glaze , glass over-runs, and roughness.
