Description: From the 1950's, miniature hat boxes were used as a gift certificate when you wanted to give a hat as a gift and the person had to be measured for the hat. The lid has a place to write "For..." to put the recipients name. Sometimes they are referred to as salesman samples, but they really were not. This is an octagonal shaped box, 2.5" tall and 3.5 x 4.25". It is a hard-to-find yellow with black lettering and green used in the horse and buggy logo and is in excellent condition with minor corner rubs on the lid, no tears or stains. The underside of the lide has a spot where the red color is removed....probably due to a price tag removal. The miniature hat inside is grey felt covered plactic and has a lighter grey colored cloth band in excellent condition.
