Description: From the 1950's, miniature hat boxes were used as a gift certificate when you wanted to give a hat as a gift and the person had to be measured for the hat. The lid has a place to write "For..." to put the recipients name. Sometimes they are referred to as salesman samples, but they really were not. This is an octagonal shaped box, 2.5" tall and 3.5 x 4.25". It is red with white lettering and is in very good condition with minor corner rubs, no tears or stains. The miniature hat inside is grey felt covered plastic and has a lighter grey colored cloth band in excellent condition.
