This is extremely common, as these shades were handled frequently with lightbulb changes. Roughness will not be visible when shade is installed in light fixture. Otherwise, no chips, flakes, flea bites, breaks, cracks, pits or other mentionable issues. Don't feel anything amiss when I run finger around exposed edges.
