Description: Jadeite (as opposed to the catch all term Jade) is prized for it's translucency and ability to take a high polish and is used mainly for jewelry. This vintage pendant is a two tone burnt orange and tan carved jadeite with an 18 kt bale. The carving looks to me to be leaves, fruit and one flower. Very often the carved jadeite piece is from the 19th century and was converted to a pendant by adding a bale in the 20th century. This is my speculation, not provable fact on this piece. The pendant measures 1 3/4 inches high, 1 5/8 inches wide and 3/8 inch thick. It weighs 15 grams. Jadeite is believed to protect one from harm and promote wealth. We have added an 18 inch gold filled chain for your convenience but it truly deserves a better chain. Hard to decipher, but there is a 750 on the bale and it does test as 18 kt. Overall condition excellent.
