Description: Vintage BONNIE BABE Bisque and Composition doll by Georgene Averill (1920's) Made in Germany Vintage Georgene Averill BONNIE BABE bisque head doll that measures approximately 19 inches long. She has beautiful brown glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes. Her hair is short, lightly sculpted, painted light brown and her eyebrows are very lightly shaded above her eyes. She has an open mouth with visible molded tongue and two lower teeth. The doll's facial color is still very good, great blush color on her plump cheeks with adorable dimples. The arms and legs are composition and her torso is stuffed made of muslin fabric. Bonnie Babe is from the 1920's, marked on her neck "Copr. by Georgene Averill 1005/3652/4 Germany 1402/47". Bonnie was designed by Georgene Averill, an American designer, but her dolls were produced in Germany under commission from George Borgfeldt. Bonnie is wearing a pale beige cotton and lace dress, with exquisite scalloped embroidered hem. Her slip is plain cotton and shorter than the outer dress. The dress did not have snaps so I used an earring as a decorative pin at the top and a small safety pin at the waist to keep her dress closed. Next I gave her socks and shoes, and a floral headband because her hat was missing. I hand laundered Bonnie's dress and slip, but I did not wash or clean any parts of the doll. With a doll this old, there is always issues. Please use the pictures to see every detail of this doll. The issues are mostly with the composition. First, her eyelid paint is flaking off, but no other flaws do I see in her face. Her right shoulder has been repaired at the seam, see pics with pink circles. The composition arms and legs all have visible crack lines with the right leg showing extensive open cracks in the composition. I know nothing about composition dolls but did read this can be repaired. For her age, the crack lines and open cracks are to be expected, and I have seen much worse on dolls this age, she is about 100 years old, so very vintage, but still so beautiful. Her dress and slip have spots which did not come out, see pics with pink circles. Of couse I don't have her original box, but she will be securely packed in a sturdy box when it's time for her to travel.
