Description: Fashion in the USA in the last 20 years of fashion design had a number of major and important players. One worthy of note - in that I am a serious collector - is Arnold Isaacs. With a thorough grounding in fashion design- in school he made paper dolls with dresses that could be fixed on, to working his way up through the movie environment to become a go to fashion leader for leading ladies, movie stars and politicians wives attending highly important social political gatherings, who required highly visible, well fitting and appropriate outfits for this role. If you like his work, his book ‘Women I have Dressed and Undressed’ is well worth a read, where he in his whimsical style, describes his long and illustrious career - dressing important women for important occasions. His clients included Jackie Kennedy, Barbara Bush, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbra Streisand, to name a few. So this dress is from his boutique label. It’s standout cold shoulder, sleeveless design is a boned ruched bodice which falls from the empire bustline to the floor forming a well shaped head turning silhouette. It’s a jaw dropping dress, maybe suitable for maternity. Very visible, luxurious and suitable for a gala performance. the fabric is a gold lame with floral type swirls in colours of dark blue and red. My last photo shows Arnold and Barbara Bush in his large format titled book A Cut Above where Mrs Bush is wearing a long sleeve dress constructed from this fabric. Fully lined in soft red acetate Fastens at the back with a rear centre zipper. The zip closes the lining of the dress, the outer fabric fastens with hooks and eyes to conceal the zipper.
