Description: Up for auction is a vintage work of art. Condition as pictured with some indications of age and yellowing. This is an original painting on illustration board, the artist's name is Aurora Jacquarie. My grandmother, Sophie Bloomfield, was a practicing Psychic Medium and Spiritualist living in New York City on 12th St. Among many things, she did readings and took on a number of students over the years. She was also a lover of art and was a frequent visitor to the Guggenheim, Met and Moma as well as other NYC museums. Her brother, Raymond Rocklin, was a noted and listed sculptor. She was fairly progressive for her time. This small collection of Aurora Jacquarie civil rights posters/paintings was given to me many years ago when I was young(er). It is my belief she took the works as partial or full payment from the artist for spiritual teaching. It is not the only occasion where she received art in trade for work, as she amassed a large collection of artwork over the years most of which was gifted to me at an early age and has been safely stored and in my possession ever since. The artist is/was a relative unknown though clearly trained and skilled, she had design degrees from NYC colleges, I do not know which. My grandmother lived across the street from the New School, she may have been a graduate from there. Feel free to ask me any questions you need to know and I will definitely hit you back with my best answer. Good luck, and enjoy!
