Description: Vintage 1950’s era (educated guess is 1956 or 1957) Douglas Aircraft El Segundo Division (California) military Navy Army Air Force aviation and guided missile model specifications promotional material in original envelope. Found in an old estate sale collection, this envelope shows an early company logo used before its mergers took place. The models featured here indicate this promotional material was produced sometime in the mid to late 1950's. (One of the models first flown in 1952 is referenced as being "newest in the series of high speed research" and another jet transport model is described as a "new luxury airplane...ordered into production in June, 1955 [and its] first flight is scheduled for 1958" so that would make the most sense.) Inside the envelope are 23 different approx. 6" x 9" inch size "Specifications & Model" prints in black and white. Some of the airplane artwork is so realistic I almost mistook them for photographs but it appears all of them are paintings and a handful of them show the artist's name is R.G. Smith. Possibly this artist did all of them, but that's unclear. Each print has specifications and information on its reverse. The 23 featured Douglas models featured include: AD Skyraider, D-558 Skystreak, DC-7, C-133 Military Transport, Nike Guided Missile, DC-7C "Seven Seas", A3D Skywarrior, F4D Skyray, C-124 Globemaster, DC-6 Series, X-3, DC-3 (C-47, C-53, R4D), AD-5 Skyraider, F5D Skylancer, 'Round the World Cruiser, DC-4 (C-54, R5D), D-558-2 Skyrocket, F3D Skyknight, B-26 (Orig. A-26) Invader, SBD Dauntless, DC-8 Jet Transport, B-668, and the Cloudster. Other than a little storage and age wear like discoloration and a small tear in outer envelope, all of the inner material looks great. There's a faint odor of old paper which is to be expected. Questions welcome. No returns. Thank you and good luck!
