Description: Vintage 1930s Rotary Schmitz Freres Brevet 189190 Tank Shaped Clamshell 39mm Gents Watch A stunning rare gents Rotary tank shaped wrist watch with a 'clamshell' screwback case that was Patented by the Schmitz brothers in the 1930s. This watch is not running as I believe it needs a new winding stem, when the screwdown crown is unscrewed the stem comes free from the watch. I have not dared to remove the movement from the watch so cannot test the balance wheel. The face of the watch has a lovely greenish tropical discolouration, the gilt Arabic numerals have minor tarnishing, the hands are all present and appear to be in good condition. The original crystal has some faint stress marks in places. The case is in good condition with minor tarnishing and small marks in places, the caseback is beautifully engraved 'H. J Driver' and is stamped 'Waterproof, Non Magnetic, Unbreakable against accidental dropping'. The screwback secures firmly and the screws and screw holes have not been threaded. The watch is fitted on its original strap that looks to be unsigned and is missing a retaining loop. It measures approx 22mm wide by 39 from lug to lug and fits a 16mm strap Please view photos carefully as they form part of the description Please view my other listings
