Description: This Compote is being offered on behalf of The University of Winnipeg Women's Club to help with the restoration/upkeep of Ralph Connor House- a Heritage Building in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. ALL proceeds less eBay charges will go to the club. Relisted after buyer failed to send payment. Porcelain Compote/Candlestick from the Schierholtz Factory located in Eastern Germany. I believe it to have been made in the early 1900's before WWII if not earlier. Top bowl comes off and the bottom portion can be used as a candlestick. Very ornate centerpiece of three children around an apple tree, one sitting, the other two are attempting to climb the tree- one of the children holding the ladder while the other climbs for the apples. The bowl has pierced fretwork around the edge. Beautiful colours but with some minor damage that is very hard to see.There is so much detail the eye skips over the few missing bits. The bottom portion has chips off the tips of 6 leaves and the top bowl has damage to 4 flower petals. Not enough room on the listing to show all the damage. Email and I will send photos of the damage. Dimensions. Bottom portion 10 1/2 in tall. 5 3/4 in base. Top bowl 9 inch diameter 3 inch tall. Together about 14 inch tall.
