Description: REVISED LISTING: This Vito alto saxophone is a quality instrument. I couldn't find a serial number chart, but a knowledgeable eBay user informed me that it was made in Nogales, Ari zona, USA in 1960. It's serial number is "1854 A". As-is, it plays pretty well. Most of the pads are quite old and will need replacement eventually. Four pads are new, the two octave keys and the low D# & C#. The notes from low C play with a little difficulty. This instrument plays as-is, and it comes with a Buffet case which can also be used as-is. There are lots of photos. Note that this listing is for the sax and case only. If you’re a serious musician, this is a good fixer upper that you could do piecemeal or all at once. If you’re a beginner, this will get you started and, if you continue to play, you can replace pads as needed or have it repadded all at once. New pads will make it play even better. Other details: It plays as-is. All but four pads are old. I went over the horn and seated the pads to see how it would play. I like the tone, feel, and general playability. It has a lovely tone and even scale. The notes below D are a little difficult, but playable. The new pads are both octave keys, and low D# & C#. The horn is worth a repad job. (I was going to repad it and use it in a French waltz cafe band, but the group broke up.) The finish is worn, but not pitted or corroded. The mechanism works well and isn’t rusted anywhere. The neck has a “bend”, but plays well. It fits on the horn well, as the ends are round without deformity. The case is a professional Buffet case from the ‘60’s. It’s useable as-is, but could use some “sprucing up” for long term use.
