Genealogy Info: EMILY HENRIETTA, VISCOUNTESS BOYLE, is the youngest daughter of Lord George Seymour, and of Isabella, daughter of the Honorable and Reverend George Hamilton. Lord George Seymour is the youngest of seven sons of the first Marquess of Hertford, and uncle to the third Marquess, just deceased. This family is a branch of the Somersets, and descends from the first Duke, the celebrated Protector Somerset, in the reign of Edward VI. Several other ancestors of this lady have been distinguished in the history of their country;-among them Sir Edward Seymour, Bart. who was unanimously chosen Speaker of the Long Parliament on the resignation of Sir Job Charleton; the celebrated General, the Right Hon. Henry Seymour Conway, the friend and correspondent of Walpole, &c. Her Ladyship is wife of Viscount Boyle, eldest son and heir apparent of the present and third Earl of Shannon. This family is a branch of the House of Boyle, Earls of Cork and Orrery. The Earldom of Shannon, in the Peerage of Ireland, was created in 1756, in the person of Henry Boyle, Esq. of Castle Martyr, who filled several high political offices in that kingdom-among others, Speaker of the House of Commons, and Chancellor of the Exchequer. The present is the third Earl of Shannon. His Lordship is also Baron Carleton, of Carleton, in the County of York, in the Peerage of Great Britain. The Earl of Shannon is a Knight of St. Patrick, Custos Rotulorum of the County of Cork, and Clerk of the Pells in Ireland. Martin2001 Satisfaction Guaranteed Policy!
